200-250 Words for Caption for the Image Below

1.  I notice that in the picture there is everything that can be found in a grocery store.  From Detergent all the way to cereal, water, and toothpaste.  I think this might have been taken from the front counter of the store.  They were probably standing on top of the counter so that they got this view.

2.  This image is overwhelming and a lot to look at.  It even gives the feeling of dizziness at times.  This photograph makes me think that as American's we have too much to choose from.  From a distance it somewhat looks like lego blocks and something put together.  The people are just standing there as if they are lost.
3.  Before the photograph was taken, the place was probably full of people, and for more of an effect, the photo shows something full when no one is there for the most part.  What might happen after the photo is taken might be another crowd rush.
4.  I think the photo conveys that as society we have too much to choose from and that we are all about brands.  The meaning is with all the choices, and the few amount of people, that as Americans, we waste what isn't ued and there is never enough.  This photo without saying anything truly shows that America has become one big brand and once your on a shelf, your just another item that someone can just look past.

Paragraph about the Artist

I think that after meeting him, it really helped understand what his artwork meant.  When he mentioned that his family were the ones in the photos and that his feelings that day really showed how his artwork would come out.  I think his darkness in some of the photos really showed power and the definition of what the point he was trying to get across.  My favorite photo was the one at USF and I got to talk to him about it, where his kid didn't know how to talk to girls yet, and from there that explained the seperation of the two people, the boy, and the older woman.

5 Questions and Observations

The plates show emotion
Some show religion
I think the way the photo is taken really shows dramatic form of the art
Looks difficult to do
Looks like something you enjoy doing.

Why plates?
What emotion was going through your head when you were thinking of a plate idea?
Is being an artist costly at times?
Is your feeling at a certain time what brings your art out?
Why the broken plate at the end?

Artist Review
Having the artist skype with us really let me understand why he did the work he did.  The fact he explained that most of his stuff is actually religious to give more of an emphasis.  It was pretty cool that i got to ask him a question personally about the plate at the end.  I think that having a one on one conversation even with the other classmates there, it let me appreciate the dedication of the work even more.  Another cool thing I learned was that because he only sold one or two things in his life, he did it cause he liked it and it got him a job in the end anyway.

Artist Review- Clair Sherwood
After meeting the artist on the skype call, I understood her art work a lot more.  I think she really took her art work related to her life and her experiences throughout her life, which really explained a lot of her work.  I think that because we learned more about her personal life with welding, her family, it rubbed off on how she approached every piece of work.  Claire was a pleasure to speak with, and I got the lucky chance to ask her a question about one of her art pieces, and it was answered quick and simple which was great.
